Landscape Restoration Of Nachmani Street In The White City Tel Aviv - West Side One Street Three Stories
Standing on the border of Tel Aviv, White City, the project area is located on Nachmani Street, which is on the border of modernism and
contemporary architecture in a historic city. The architectural identity of the neighbourhood, which was built in the 1930s, has been analysed deeply to master the Unesco-protected area.
The project area covers the western part of Nachmani Street and two important facades on Derech Menachem Begin. Within the project area, there is also the YGA housing project, one of the pioneers of its time, designed by Shlomo Ponrov and consisting of seven buildings and three typologies. In the project process, architectural analysis, decay analysis, remedial
intervention and rooftop additions were planned based on the existing photographs of eleven buildings.
The interventions were elaborated on three different levels according to the different histories and situations on the street. On the North side of the road, the primary approach was to recreate the same language and dialogue between those buildings and to create the feeling of one project as it is. That is why the rooftop addition is not visible from the street level and it has the same language as the buildings itself. On the other hand, the south part of the same street has a completely different approach to creating harmony concrete shaders were added to the rooftop level which creates the same level for every building directly visible from the street level. On Derech Menachem Begin nonvisible rooftop additions were implemented. nature, architecture, and major urban functions merge into a formidable landscape.
